Brian Silston, PhD, received his B.A. in Business Economics from Brown University, M.S. in Neuroscience and Education from Teachers College at Columbia University, and Ph.D. in Psychology from Columbia University. Brian has broad interests within social, cognitive and affective science, with his work spanning the effects of anxiety, stress and fear on neural functioning, learning, behavior and memory, to motivational influences on cogntiion and behaviors. Brian was the recipient of several awards during his PhD work, and has published empirical and theoretical works in top-tier journals, including Nature.
Along with colleagues at Columbia University, Brian is a co-director of the Center for Brain, Mind and Society. The research center focuses on educational outreach and programs to inform the public about important psychological and neuropsychological concepts, and is conducting research and developing programs to improve emotion regulation in youth, especially in the context of digital technology.
Prior to his academic career, Brian spent nearly two decades in investment banking, most recently as a principal for a merchant bank, where he advised and invested in dozens of transactions across a diverse set of industries and investment stages, and as an entrepreneur co-founded several technology companies and acted as chief data scientist.
As a result of his diverse and extensive experience across academia, educational settings, business and technology, Brian is uniquely positioned to apply concepts and tools from business, technology, and modern psychological theory to effect positive change in real world settings.
Minor Gordon is a data and software architect with over 15 years of experience in industrial research, product development, and professional services. He has contributed to numerous early-stage product startups and co-founded three; one of the latter, a Software-as-a-Service platform for email marketers, was acquired in 2022. Minor holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Cambridge, where his research focused on concurrency strategies for high-performance servers. He is a lifelong learner and avid reader, with a passion for history.
Minor has worked on technology-related projects in a variety of sectors, including cultural heritage, finance, the life sciences, manufacturing, marketing, media, and social impact. He has broad expertise in data and software processes and tools, from compiler design to computational notebooks. In recent years he has largely focused on helping companies address challenges in data governance, integration, and reuse in order to get more value from their data.
Jaclyn Bendt is a Research Analyst at Episteme with a background as a Registered Dietitian and experience across clinical research and healthcare settings. She earned her BS in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences from The Ohio State University, specializing in Medical Dietetics.
At Episteme, Jaclyn focuses on analyzing patient populations, therapeutic landscapes, and competitive insights to guide evidence-based recruitment and marketing strategies. She brings a strong foundation in translating complex clinical data into actionable recommendations that help healthcare and life science organizations better reach and engage patients.
